FREE DIALYSIS PROJECT AT KORLE BU RENAL DIALYSIS UNIT
Since December 2016, the First Sky Group has executed a programme that substantially increases health financing, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines through the free dialysis project at the Korle Bu Renal Unit. Health financing has taken the form of payment of the cost of renal treatment and management for patients at the Renal Dialysis Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The project began with an initial sum of Six Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 620,000.00) and a further donation of an amount of Two million Ghana cedis (GHS 2,000,000.00) as an endowment fund for the treatment of all patients at the dialysis unit. As at December 2021, a total amount of Twenty Million Ghana Cedis (GHc20,000,000.00) has been disbursed on this project.
FIRST SKY GROUP SPONSORSHIP OF KIDNEY TRANSPLANT IN GHANA
First Sky Group, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in collaboration with Transplant Links UK in 2019 successfully performed Kidney Transplantation for four patients with Kidney failures. The commitment to building infrastructure and providing logistics that significantly impact the quality of care in the health delivery chain with a firm focus to touch lives and save souls is the motivation to fully fund the establishment of a Kidney Transplant center in Korle Bu, a first of its kind in the West Africa sub-region to cater for patients with Kidney failures who otherwise would have been flown to India and South Africa.
